FAQ

  • What does a colonic cleanse session involve?

A typical session involves the gentle introduction of warm, filtered water into the colon using specialised equipment. The process is carried out in a controlled, private environment with guidance from a trained practitioner. Sessions are usually designed to be calm and supportive, allowing time for both the treatment and a brief consultation. Individuals may experience different sensations depending on their body and comfort level. The practitioner will explain each step so you feel informed throughout.

  • How should I prepare before my appointment?

Preparation is generally simple and may include staying well hydrated and eating light meals prior to your session. Avoiding heavy or overly processed foods beforehand is often recommended to help you feel more comfortable during treatment. Your practitioner may provide additional guidance based on your individual circumstances. It’s also helpful to allow yourself enough time to arrive relaxed and unhurried. Following any preparation advice can help support a smoother overall experience.

  • Are there any safety considerations to be aware of?

Colonic cleansing is considered a complementary wellness treatment and may not be suitable for everyone. Individuals with certain medical conditions, recent surgeries or ongoing digestive issues should seek advice from a healthcare professional before booking. During your consultation, general health information may be discussed to help determine suitability. Treatments are typically carried out using hygienic equipment and recognised procedures to support a safe environment. Understanding your own health needs is an important part of making an informed decision.

  • How often should colonic cleanse be done?

Treatment frequency can vary depending on personal goals, lifestyle and overall wellbeing approach. Some individuals choose occasional sessions, while others incorporate treatments into a broader routine. There is no single schedule that suits everyone, and decisions are often based on individual preferences and guidance from a practitioner. It’s important to approach treatments as part of a balanced lifestyle rather than a standalone solution. Discussing your goals during consultation can help you determine what feels appropriate for you.

  • What if I have my period?

This is a great time to have a session since your body is already cleansing. Your flow will not interfere with the success of your session.

  • What is the difference between open & closed system colonics?

The Angel of Water colon hydrotherapy system we use at South Coast Colon Health is an open system of Colon Hydrotherapy. It is a modern, state-of-the-art, gravity-fed system. You will have your own private treatment room and the therapist will instruct you on how to self-insert the small rectal tube in privacy.

The Qualified Colon Hydrotherapist is trained to ensure the procedure is done safely, adjusting the water temperature and flow to suit your specific needs. Once treatment is underway, the therapist will check on you regularly during the session for your own safety and gauge whether you require further support.

The closed system is an older style colon hydrotherapy system, where a therapist is with you in the room throughout the entire treatment, inserts the larger rectal tube (speculum) for you, and is in control of the amount of water flowing into your colon.

Whilst there are merits to both systems, our clients find the open Angel of Water system a far more comfortable treatment and feel that they can be more in tune with their own body throughout the treatment.
